Improve profitability and cash flow for small business, even the one-person operation, by applying proven value engineering methods.

Writing Grant Proposals

We recommend two valuable resources for writing grant proposals, books in fact, one for personal grants and one for business grants. We also tell you how to get grants.

Every year over $1,000,000,000,000 (that's trillion) worth of free government grants are given out to over 30,000,000 (that's million) people! That's six times more than what Americans spend on automobiles!

On many pages of this site, you'll see paired images like these two that urge you to "Apply VE to your business..." and "Profit by doing things better."
Apply VE to your business... Profit by doing things better.
They appear just as a reminder of the basic premise of this site, which is that we can use value engineering principles to solve almost any business problem and so improve a company's performance, profitability and cash flow.

The first step in getting a government grant (before even thinking about writing grant proposals) is to select the granting agency you will work with. For this, you need the biggest list possible of funding agencies. The two books we recommend offer the best value because they cost so little and give so much in terms of the information you actually need.

Writing Grant Proposals for Personal Use

For writing grant proposals for personal use, we recommend "Free Money To Pay Your Bills" by Matthew Lesko. This book describes thousands of personal grant programs offered by federal, state and local governments, as well as by other sources, such as private foundations. You get 770 pages of solid information for as little as $37.95. For a small additional charge, you can get the book with three hours of video training on DVD or VHS on writing grant proposals, which we rate as the best deal. Click the appropriate button to place a secure credit card order.

How To Get Grants

Donald CogganHello! Don Coggan here, at your service as grant guide. I've been evaluating and writing proposals - and helping people get grants - for over 20 years and I can assure you that you don't NEED any of the books we recommend to get grants. In fact, most goverment grants are federally administered and can be found in one place on the Internet. Go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance and see for yourself.

So if you can do it all on your own, why would you want to use a book? Simple. The books make it much easier and they cover more than just federal territory. The right book will definitely save you time. If it's worth it to you to save hours - and more likely days - of futile searching, then you should get a book. In fact, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY a book. Borrow one at your local public library. If they don't have it in stock, ask them to order it for you.

But if you do decide to buy a book, we can give you an UNBEATABLE DEAL if you buy it from this site. If you order it from us, I will personally help you use the book when you receive it. Some of the Lesko books are larger than big-city phone books and they can be overwhelming if you've never before tried to get a grant. I can probably save you several hours - and maybe even days, weeks or months - of precious time with just a few minutes of professional advice.

Now, I know this is a great deal because frankly, when people buy a grant book, they're often just looking for easy money. They want to be able to walk out of their home or office, go to the nearest grant tree and pluck the money off the branches. Hello! Wake up! Some effort is needed and even if it's just a little, many people get discouraged and give up. DON'T GIVE UP. Get professional help. Just give me a call and I'll step you through the process.

The choice is yours. You can choose to do it entirely on your own and put in days, weeks, and even months of frustrating and unrewarding effort. And then give up after having wasted all that time and energy. OR YOU CAN BE SMART. You can get professional guidance. All you have to do is buy the book you need from us. What could be simpler and smarter? I'll even help you select the right book.

There's billions of dollars of free government money out there for all types of grants. You can get your share of it using the books we recommend. You still have to work at it though and this is where many people get off the track. Sometimes just a little encouragement is needed. That's what these books are for.
