Use A Proven Cash Flow Template
To Help You Play The Game To Win

Are you using a proven cash flow template to develop your company's cash flow projections? Be a better manager by really understanding how to forecast your cash gains and losses.

The cash flow statement is a financial report that your company produces to summarize all cash transactions, both in and out of the company, during a certain period.

It's crucial for managers to understand their statements of cash flow, because they are responsible for the reliability and accuracy of all financial statements.

A template can help you to construct a statement of cash flow that will be easy for you and others to understand. A clear and comprehensive financial report will allow you to identify cash flow strengths and weaknesses within the company so that you can improve the business's financial situation.

The Traditional Cash Flow Statement

The traditional statement of cash flow is organized into three sections: (1) operating, (2) investing, and (3) financing. By using a simple template to create this financial statement, you'll easily be able to analyze which areas of the business are generating cash and which are consuming it.

  1. The Operating Section
The operating section summarizes all cash transactions that have to do with the company's normal operations. This section will report on sales revenues, inventory expenses, and other operating expenses such as building maintenance and employee wages. A clear cash flow statement will identify whether you company is generating more revenues than expenses, which means that you're being a successfully profitable business.
  2. The Investing Section
The second section of the cash flow statement is investing. In this area, you can understand what kind of financial return you're gaining on investments. For example, you may have purchased shares in another company or invested in bonds to gain additional revenue separate from the company's normal operations. A comprehensive template will outline the profitability of your investments.
  3. The Financing Section
The final section in a cash flow statement is financing. Whereas the investing section reported on money that was spent on investments, the financing section tells you how you generated revenue from outside sources. This may include bank loans or issuing shares if you're a public company. With a clear statement of cash flow, you can easily manage your company's financing transactions.

A cash flow template allows you to easily construct and analyze your cash flow statement. After a thorough analysis, you'll be able to determine from which areas your company earns and spends the most cash -- whether it is operating, investing, or financing.
